check your cables and try again it sounds like you have a bad connection with the jump cables. At minimum the dash lights should come on because it takes a very small power source

Yes, a completely discharged battery will not take a charge without a little "help". If your dash lights do not work, then you probably need a new battery to get you going again. If that is not an option and checking your connections as nismo 1183 suggested does not work, you can put a charger on the battery at a very low charge rate and see if that will bring it back to life. Depending on what kind of charger you get, it still may not charge because most modern chargers need some base voltage to determine if the charger will function properly. A better bet is to use an older charger at a trickle current rate for about a day and then switch it to a faster charge rate.

Hi,It sounds like nismo1183 is right.Make sure all of your connections are nice and tight, sometimes those sidepost terminals are hard to get a good connection. You should have a seperate positive battery terminal post under a black plastic cap that is meant for jump starting. If you still have your vehicle manual it will clearly show you where it is.Also remove your cables from your battery to make sure there is no corrosion, sometimes it is hard to spot on those side post terminals.Clean all connections good, and make sure your ground cable connection is clean. Most of the time I just hook the jumper cable ground to a clean part of metal close to the battery that is CLEAN and is grounded.Last, make sure RED positive cis connected to positive on battery,or the post I was talking about, and then negative BLACK cable to ground.Just make sure ALL connections are tight and CLEAN.Take your time and you will will figure it out.GOOD LUCK!!!!!

thanks guys i will purchase a new battery as the one now installed is the original-7 years old .herb
