I own a 2007 Beetle and the last two days the key won't turn in the ignition.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2007 Beetle convertible. Key won't turn in the ignition. When I go to turn the steering
wheel it locks and then I have to rock the steering wheel back and forth until it starts. I've
owned the car for 4 years and have never had a problem. Any suggestions!

When you park the car with pressure on the wheel and try to turn the switch, sometimes the steering lock will bind up and make it harder to turn the switch- a person should grab the wheel and relieve some of the pressure on the switch and then start it- if this is not done, and the switch is forced many times when the front wheels are turned- the ignition lock will eventually wear out and start malfunctioning- it sounds like this is your problem- a new ignition switch-
