2007 beetle won’t start turns over fine

2007 beetle was in gear at idle it died and will not start it
turns over just fine no bad dash lights everything normal I
took line off fuel filter turn key and gas pumped through
filter and out on ground so I’m sure pump is working

Did you ever figure this problem out? I have a 2001 and it died at a stop light and has not started since. Had a computer hooked up to it and got a cam sensor code and a fuel pump relay code.

Alternator...my lights still worked and it would turn over but wasnt getting a strong enuf charge from battery
