Question type: Car Customization

Hey there. We just dropped a pretty penny
picking up a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan
Special Edition that includes a 6 disc
MULTI dvd player. The control and dvd
insertion point is at the bottom of the
middle dash column beneath the radii and
temp controls (doesn't look much
different from a CD/radio preset section).
We've poured over the manual and every
article Google can find..even called the
clueless salesman at the dealership (say
whaa??)... to no luck at all.
If i don't get this bad boy to play my 23 mo
old is going to tear the new car
apart..dear laws somebody tell me how to
make this mother work...for the love of..

Anyway, looks like we should have a
remote control..surprise surprise..That's
Nowhere to be seen or mentioned.. (can
we purchase a universal remote or
something..i mean there must be
replacements right???)
Then it looks like we turn the
entertainment system to the dvd player..
So we're listening to the radio..switch over
to the dvd player
(While on radio the dvd player has
flashing amber lights over the 6
buttons..the manual says this means all 6
slots are open..)
So hit dvd..this causes the radio to go
silent and the dvd disc changer begins to
whir...the display reads d ------
The light above the slot becomes solid as
do the blinking 6 buttons for the slots. It
says we're supposed to hit (or hold) which
slot we want the dvd in.. (yeah right) ..
nothing happens..other than it
whirrs..continues to have the insertion
slot locked up so we can't shove the disc
in and then the display eventually reads
'ERROR
OH JOY
SOMEONE please please help me out..or
point me in the direction where to go.
Thanks

Well, you did the correct thing, buy reading the manual and asking the salesman. I suspect that there is an electrical or mechanical problem that will require the unit be removed and sent to a radio / CD repair station. Information on what to do and where to send it may be available at your local Dodge dealership's parts or service department.

I was afraid of that..well, not necessarily afraid..just in fear of the dinero in my wallet widdling away..hopefully the dealership will be gentle with me. Well, thanks, Bob for your input. Super appreciate you taking the time to help a sista out.

When having an unresolved issue, contact the manufacturer for advice. You need info, not their expensive product. Lastly, ask for the product numbers (so you can cross reference but don't tell them that or they might not be so helpful).

I need the pin-out for the screen. I'm a computer man, I want to put 3 or 4 R-Pi or NUK into it. I can find the pin-out for the radio, but not the screen.
