Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi,
I have a new 3.5 SE, and my mileage is really lousy, roughly 280 miles (~14 mpg) for a 20 gallon tank.  is this due to break in period? i read through a few forums and people roughly range from 18 mpg to even mid 20's.  I do not drive aggressively, sometimes going to 3000 rpms when needed, but often staying around 2000.  Any advice?

This is correct, there really is no break-in period per se, but your mileage WILL improve slightly as everything begins to wear in. You don't mention how many miles on the vehicle? You may also want to have a dealer check it out, it's possible there is a faulty sensor or other issue causing poor fuel economy.
