My 94 chevy suburban will take a jump but will cut out after running what could be the issue?

I have replaced the starter and the battery and when i get a jump it will start however soon as I try to move or if the cord that connects to the starter from the battery the car shuts off. I am not sure if it could be a short in the cord or what the issue may be. Please help
