either a lever on the floor or a push button operated. Very simple, nothing special to do other than move a lever or push a button. Shifts into 4lo, the vehicle must be stopped.

My 1972 4x4 is easier to get into 4 wheel low or 4 wheel hi this way: Start off in 2 wheel and get it moving slowly forward then shift it in neutral, then it can be easily shifted into 4 wheel by bumping the floor 4wheel lever either forward or backward for 4 wheel hi or low. Same procedure to get it back into neutral on the floor lever, then just shift into 2 wheel drive on the column lever and off you go.
I got a 95 z71 Chevy and I'm wondering how do you put it in 4low or 4hi either one do you have to be moving to do it then put it in neutral then shift it in 4low or Hi or what. Any help will be greatly appreciated ty
You can go to 4 hi anytime. You must be stopped and in neutral to go into 4 low
WRONG! For 1995 era, To get in or out of four LOW the automatic transmission must be in neutral and the vehicle creeping at 2 or 3mph, then push into or out of WITHOUT pausing in "transfer case neutral" (that is ONLY for towing). To go between 2high or 4 high be moving and just ease off throttle when selecting, back on once engaged.

i have a 95 gmc sierra k1500 4x4. im not sure who owned it before or what if any maintenance was ever done on any of the drive train. ive changed out all the lubricants that i can and am now working on switches and whatever else i have to do to get the four wheel drive to work properly. what my problem is as of currently, im not quite sure why i cant switch from 2 high to any of the other gears other then nuetral. they just give me a hard grind. i always thought that if your in two high, that meant you were using your rear drive axel. instead, what ive got is when i put it in 2 high, im driving with my front axel.thats what the light on the gauge is showing. so i dont think thats right i should be driving from my rear axel. am i wrong? who feels me.
