Question type: General

I am thinking about buying a 2007 BMW X5 4.8i which has a little over 100k miles.  The vehicle has a clean carfax and autocheck.
For BMW X5 owners is over 100k miles too many?   I do not want to run into a lot of maintenance issues.

The price is good based on kelly blue book. It also comes from a dealership. I am looking at 11k ... it has all the goodies fully loaded and it is clean

also does anyone know about how much cooling system repairs, oil leak repairs, and front end repairs cost with a X5 ? It currently does not have a oil leak but from reading it is very common to have cooling system issues.

Run don't walk run just turn around and run .. you will be chasing problems forever once you figure one problem out another one immedialty appears out of the blue.. after a year of chasing non ending problems and you think you've covered everything. Bam this vehicle throws another left hook then a combination and just keeps hammering you with problems.. but on those 10 maybe 15 miles in between rounds when it decides to cut you a small brake .. it's a magnificent vehicle.. it's a love hate relationship.. but be prepared to spend your free time learning to become a qualified BMW tech ..

I would not reccomend the BMW X5 4.8. I currently own a 2008 with low mileage +/- 80 clicks and I am tired of spending on repairs. Leaks oil, had issues with coolant tank - had to be replaced, the ridiculuous rear air suspensions cost a fortune to replace. Last estimate from the dealer to fix this car was over 4K, excluding the 4K to repair the oil leak. The repairs cost more than the vehicle is worth. Keep away from this car.
