try warming the 0 grommet~ that might make it pliable...toss it into your hot coffee and fish it out with a spoon~

or stick it in your freezer...the propensity of materials to go smaller when cold could be applicable in this situation~

perhaps you're mistaking "bump/ridge" type geometry for screw threads...perhaps it is a push it type affair~
