Why does my car stop accelerating?

Asked by De'Shaun Jan 21, 2016 at 05:58 PM about the 1998 Buick LeSabre Custom Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1998 Buick le sabre and in the middle of
me driving it will stop accelerating while the car is
still on and still in drive. I tried throwing it in
reverse and it won't even do that. After i turn it off
and turn it back on it'll let me drive for about 5 min
before it happens again. Anybody know what that
might be?

Sounds like a fuel issue, may be fuel filter is clogged or the pump is going bad.

Thanks for the help! And are You sure it's not the transmission? BC sometimes i hear it go in gear and other times i don't and that's when it doesn't move.

You need either a fuel filter replacement or fuel pump replacement. Cheap depending on your vehicle.
