Asked by Sheila Oct 19, 2020 at 07:03 PM about the 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix.
For a while I have been smelling
coolant . Now I keep getting tiny
spots on outside of my
windshield and looks like streaks
on top of my car. Looks like so.e
type of fluid or water. Can a bad
heater core or water pump cause
this?

Usually when a heater core leaks, it is inside the car. Outside the car, I would suspect a heater hose leaking if it getting onto your windshield.

Sounds more like water pump to me. Coolant leaks from the pump to the belt and pulleys which slig it to the top of the engine bay. Air currents take it from there to windshield and roof.
