No. You require the heavy duty version of that transmission. It will have "HD" attached to the end of the model number and is the only one built to be comatible with the much more powerful supercharged engine. They are used in a couple of other supercharged Gm cars besides the GTP. Do your homework and then start searching auto wreckers online. I've bought a couple of them in the past and had to go quite far afield to find them, but they are quite compact and not terribly heavy so having them shipped to you isn't particularly expensive.

If you can find a used one cheap and a friend to help you put it in for free it might be worth it. If you have to pay a shop to do it it’s likely not. I believe it’s a 10 to 14 hour job. It’s likely a 2500 dollar car so do your math first before you pour a bunch of money into it. Remember, even if you put a brand new transmission into it it’s still just a 2500 dollar car.
