Charging Failure light comes on and off periodically

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My charging failure light comes on and off periodically and also my battery
saver activated light.   Took it to the Auto Center to have alternator checked
and  at the time with the portable tester, tested fine. Battery also tested fine.
When he touched my battery wires though, he burnt his finger and said that
should not be hot.  He and the other guys inside concluded that I have a
short somewhere in the electrical system.  I'm thinking this could be the
reason the light is coming on?  If so, how serious could this be?

Just wanted to let you know, I'm pretty sure i have got my problem with my electrical system short fixed! :) Had an electrical diagnosis done and the conclusion was that the connection between the battery and alternator was loose causing a short. He replaced the copper connectors and he said that should stop the warning indicators coming up on my dash. I will keep you posted so that this answer and solution can be passed along to others having this same problem, before thinking they have to replace their battery and or alternatory.
