2006 jeep wrangler gauges come on but the engine will not turn over

turned the jeep on it started then died. turned it on again the gauges came on but it would not turn over.

May seem like silly question but is it the correct key ? not sure about 2006 but my 99 has a chipped key that has a security feature that will allow the jeep to turn over once then immediately kills the motor after about 3 secs if it isn't programmed to the ignition
