Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi all I’m having a problem with my 07 volvo s60 I

just got the car and it’s showing a power system

service urgent light so I done some tested and

found that the alternator wasn’t charging the

battery and also found that the battery was bad as

well.

I replaced both and the problem was solved so I

thought. 2 days later the same message comes up

and the battery light comes on. Here I am thinking

maybe I got a bad alternator so I replaced it once

again and still same problem Iv read a lot about

maybe having to have a bosh alternator put in it has

anyone else had this issue? Any suggestions would

be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

How did you find the alternator wasn't charging the first time ? If you tested it why didn't you test the new one with the car running ? Don't tell me you pulled the batt cable with it running .A stock alternator should be fine , You may have a parasitic draw . Now you know why they sold it . A good technician can help

I ended up fixing it I traced all the wires down and found the starter wire was missing a bolt which held it to the starter so it was just moving around causing a bad connection.
