I'd make sure the battery has a full charge and connections are all good. The starter motor should be down low on front side of engine? Toward to driver side, the starter drive gear has to engage the flywheel and the flywheel is part of transaxle. One of the positive battery cables should go to the starter motor. You need to safely raise and support the vehicle to get at starter motor. Working under a vehicle there are safety issues, safety is your responsibility. At the starter motor usually two voltage circuits, one comes from battery, hot all the time. The other circuit goes hot with key in the start position and is wired through neutral switch for automatic. The starter motor should ground through engine block, so voltage and grounds are important. Any testing at starter, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set.
