sorry but i hope you still have waranty the engine and ac are linked only as a power source for the ac so with that said your engine is working hard for some reason maybe the pump is low in compresor oil or the engine has a head gasket gone good luck a compression test will eliminate the latter

Check to make sure your cooling fans are working when the A/C is on. Does the car get hot with A/C off?

If your engine does not run hot without the A/C I would really suspect the fans or fan relays/wiring.
