The engine light comes on while driving the car, how does the gas affect the throttle?

Asked by Zhangmen Aug 02, 2015 at 08:42 AM about the 2007 Chevrolet Aveo 5 LS Hatchback FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Auto repair shop told me the interaction between the gas and the throttle are messed up causing the engine light to come on. This occurs after I start driving the car and accelerating.  How is this connected? What parts are needed?

Did this shop read the code or codes with a code reader and showed you the results or are they just guessing ? Going by what they are saying sounds like you just need to clean the throttle body. If they did not read the codes take some where else to have done because usually a dirty throttle body will not cause the check engine light to come on.
