my 2006 sebring convertible is overheating with a loud hissing sound and what looks like a leaking component blowing steam - the heater does not work- what is this problem?thx!

Fill cooling system with water and do a pressure test on system. This will cause it to leak without the engine running and hot so you can better tell where the leak is at. The no heat issue is probably because your engine coolant level is to low. Need to find the leak before you cause future damage to your engine.
Clamp, cracked hose or gasket. High miles? Might be time to replace water pump and timing chain if 80- 90K, (and hoses & thermostat), flush. Refill 50/50 pink Zerex. Summer is coming!
Another possibility is coolant bleeder valve failure. It is where 3 hoses join on top passenger side of engine, temp sensor is integral. The component can crack causing leak and steam venting. $75 part.

Did you ever find out what was wrong? I have the same car and the same problem. The check engine light came on a while ago but had no problems. I refilled the coolant and window washer fluid and then the next time I drove it I now have smoke coming from engine area, no heat, and some sort of Liquid on the engine. This never happened til I refilled everything but I know I did it correctly. Not sure what happened. Need help with this also
coolant bleeder valve is the fix, mine was overheating and hissing and it was bone dry, replaced the bleeder valve and its perfectly fine
