camber arms

Asked by JRZ Oct 19, 2010 at 07:35 AM about the 2006 Chrysler Sebring GTC Convertible FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just had 4 new tires installed, balanced, and front-end alignment.  Mechanic said he couldn't align the rear because the camber arms are not adjustable (they are the original equipment). Recommended I purchase new adjustable cambers.  Since the wheels (including rear) had to be aligned at the factory and I have had the balance and alignment checked before (with no mention of this), I'm assuming the tire place is trying to rip me off (you know, women never know anything about cars).  I'm also assuming that if he is being honest, that perhaps he doesn't know that there are different kinds of adjusting options (such as nut-screw, wing-nut, etc.  and that this could be a problem.  Does anyone have advice about the rear cambers on the 2006 GTC convertible?

You that really doesn't sound right. I just went thru that on my 99 sebring and he pointed out to me that I ahd a bent controll arm and they do say that it has to have all 4 aligned. I'm running aftermarket wheels too. Maybe you should check out another shop and see what they say. Or maybe see if you have a guy friend and see if he could help you take it to one and see what happens. Good luck with it.

Thx layitlo, I'm going to take it to the local Chrysler dealer's service department and have them show me what they find. Maybe they will know how the cambers can be adjusted.

Let me kow how it goes. I'm curious cause I normally drive a rear wheel drive truck and this sebring I have is something new for me. So far it's not bad to work on. Good Luck.
