Strange Oil Light Problem

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2006 Chrysler Sebring 2.7L V6 is the car I am talking about.
The car runs perfectly when it is cold, it still runs fine after it heats up. But, after it
heats up, if I make a stop in D gear, say a red light, for more than 5 seconds, then the
oil light will start flash slightly. If I shift to N gear at that moment, then the light will go
off. Or, once the car back to move again, the light will go off, too. A fact is, more hot
the car, more strong the light flash.
I first thought maybe my oil is too old, I drove 1000 miles only but more than 10
months since last oil change, so I got the oil changed(5W20 by the way). But the
problem did not solve. And I found there some oil around the oil filler cap, seems
leaked out from the cap. But the problem still there.
The current oil level is about 1/5 from min to max, it is a bit low, but should be safe, at
least I can tell some oil was lost. I checked drive way, there ware no oil on the ground
at oil, so the cap seems the only place it can leaks out, but a new cap does not solve
the problem.
Any suggestion?

Could be bad oil pump,or the oil sending unit is bad reading wrong, and not changing oil on a regular bases will make it burn oil.

I don't think it burns oil, the smoke looks good.

Have the oil pressure checked by a mechanic with a guage, this will let you know what is wrong, eather pump or bad oil sending unit.

In case I can get a guage and read by myself, what's the sign for bad pump, and what's for oil sending unit?

We have a 2005 seabring GTC convertable and its doing the same thing. I was also thinking it was oil pump, but Ive got a bad computer that was sending us into limp mode. I replaced the trans relay and so far good there, but it will need the computer replaced. We can smell hot fluids after car heats up, been ran for awhile and we get the engine light that comes on at a stop light and goes out once moving again. Trying to figure out what Ill need to replace because of this issue.

Same issue with our 2005 sebring conv GTC. Oil light on when stopped, goes out when moving again. We can smell hot fluids when we park also. I was thinking pil pump but not sure. Im tired of replacing parts lol. Chrysler transmissions all have issues and Id never own another again because of this. You cant even lube your joints on the car cause its a closed system. They want you to wear out your ball joints so it costs a fortune.

Also... the oil cap is a pain in the ass. It has to be pushed down and turned and you have to make sure it seats all the way or oil will leak and escape. I looked into a new cap also and same issue besides it not fitting like the original, so I took it back and kept original on it. It will not lose oil if cap is on proper and snug.
