06 Sebring convertible top won't go down, manually

Asked by Yehbutt73 Sep 06, 2017 at 04:24 PM about the 2006 Chrysler Sebring Limited Convertible FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 06 Sebring
convertible which I
have had the top fixed
several times for
different reasons. It
again doesn't work but
in prior times when it
didn't work I could at
least manually open
and close top. This
time I am unable to
open it manually and
am very frustrated
because I can't drive it
with the top up. Anyone
help?

same problem here, you need to change oil, under the rear seat there is a pump that lift and close the top, lift the seat first then the back that is kept in place by two bolt, you will see a cilinder about 8 10 inches long, thats the pump, unscrew it and then open the cap and empty the oil, refill with TRANSMISSION OIL ONLY. IS ABOUT 3 4 ONCES JUST DONT OVERFILL.replace the cap and put all back. it worked beautifully for me. by the way you may check for videos on you tube about how to replace oil on a sebring convertible top pump. hope it will work for you
