Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Hi I have 2006 Chrysler Sebring
I've owned it for 4 years and in
that 4 years I have replaced my
thermostat 6 times flushed the
radiator twice, and recently my air
conditioning or heater does not
work. I can't afford a newer car
but I'm continually without my car
and can't afford that any ideas.
My radiator and overflow are full
and yes the fan works. What am I
missing

Sounds like you really need a professional to take a look at it. But it’s not worth throwing a lot of money at to fix. HVAC control unit? Plugged heater core? Low refrigerant? Bad AC compressor? Just mention a few things.
I'm assuming the engine keeps overheating. If it overheats when idling, like waiting in the bank drive through, at slow speeds, or stop and go driving it's an airflow problem. You said the radiator cooling fans are working but is the front of the air conditioner condenser and or radiator clogged with dirt, leaves, etc. thereby reducing the airflow through the radiator? Are the fan shrouds and air deflectors, if equipped, installed correctly and not broken or missing? These are put there to direct maximum airflow through the radiator and air conditioner condenser under slower speeds and idling. If it overheats while driving you have a coolant circulation problem, such as air trapped in the cooling system, a bad water pump, excessive sludge or other debris in the cooling system passages, a blown head gasket, or a cracked head. I left out the thermostat since you said you replaced it. Since you said the heater has stopped working that points to poor coolant circulation as well. Hope that helps! Jim
