2006 sebring touring sedan

at a half tank of gas it just quits like a killswitch was hit,  it wont start just cranks, if i add 6-7 gal of gas it will run fine untill it gets to half tank. it did it twice at a quarter tank before now, i had two mechanics look at it and can't figure it out?

First off has the gauge been checked for accuracy - are you really out of gas :) Secondly you may want to have someone pull out the fuel pump assembly - the pick up screen may have fallen off the end of the pump thus not reaching the rest of the fuel to be pumped. Third - Leave the gas cap OFF and see if it does the same thing ( In good weather of course ) Some ides and look forward to the responses Good Luck
