Inside light

My rear view mirror has two buttons to turn the
light on inside. Is the light supposed to only go on
if I turn the buttons on or are the lights supposed to
go on when I open the car door. I did not get a manual
with this car 2006 Chrysler Touring Convertible.

I THINK YOU CAN HAVE IT EITHER WAY. I BELIEVE THE LIGHTS ARE SUPPOSED TO GO ON WHEN YOU OPEN YOUR DOOR.

I bought a used 2010 Seabring hard top convertible and I don't have any interior lights that come on when I open the door. I only have dash lights that come on when I turn on the lights. With black seats and floors it is pitch dark. I never got a manual with the car when I bought it. It is a limited edition and you would think I would have al the bells and whistles
The light in the dash board stay on after doors are close and keeps peeping what may the problem be
turning the dimmer to off and pressing the buttons on the rear view mirror in, turned the lights off for me.
