Did you check bulb socket for both power and ground?

Sockets or the little strip the sockets click into the plastic melts breaking the ground. Let me guess running light works but brake don't?

our problem is the passenger brake light doesn't work but when we disconnect and reconnect the battery it starts again for a while and then acts up again.
