Popping sound when accelerating

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Just changed the fuel filter and put new plugs and wires in, hasn't solved the issue... No codes pop up when scanned. If in park it takes alot of rev. to make the pop sound... But in drive on the road accelerating it will "pop"... Sounds like something blowing a hole somewhere and breaking something... Feels like it's surging for gas... Any suggestions as to what this might be??

Popping sound out the exhaust pipe? Or out the intake? Are you discribing a back fire?
It sounds like its in the front of the the vehicle by the motor but I do know my exhaust pipe has a hole in it by the back passenger seat... But that has been there for a few months now and this sound just started Friday... We thought it was misfiring maybe but no codes popped up and we changed the plugs and wires
Could possibly have a valve sticking open a little. Try using some gas treatment. I prefer to use sea foam. Add a can to a full tank of gas. This should clear it up if that's the issue.
Oh and you might want to address the exhaust leak. Continuing to drive it this way will lead to worse and more costly issues.
Ok we will try that... Could it be an issue with ignition coil pack?
or a cam sensor? These were suggestions we received at O'Reillys...
I had the same problem and the only code that came up was, P0441, incorrect Purge Flow. What I did was vacuum out the air cleaner, Check the gas cap, and vacuum lines, checked all the oil and water levels then, the problem went away. So maybe the air cleaner was dirty. This is intermittent so I don't know until it does it again. Maybe a new air filter to start with will fix the problem.
