Engine wont start

When trying to start there is a loud clicking or chattering it does not sound like
the engine is turning at all the battery is not dead.  I had just started it the
previous day and it started fine

the ignition switch should be checked first. The starter solenoid control wire could have a bad connection. The starter motor itself or a starter solenoid could be bad. A neutral safety switch is bad.

Clicking sometimes means the battery voltage is low and doesn't have enough energy to properly switch the solenoid which switches the voltage on and off that powers the starter. Check the battery cable terminals for corrosion and clean if necessary. Charge the battery and get it tested.
