Make sure key stock,is not at the very back of balancer when placed on,it will scar it,and it will hold it out, check key stock.

Thanks Mark but the center part of oil pump protrudes out past the outer part about an eighth of an inch, keeping balancer from it's full inward travel. olschl43

Sound,s like the oil pump, may have need to be shimed back, but i have delt with this issue before,to much work to go back and remove all to shin it,but you will need a grinder or a better thing to use is a belt sander, remove harmonic balancer and grind what you need off of it to get it back where belt will aline with it,it, is this or go and remove every thing to shim the pump.
