As far as your trac light goes there should be a button or switch that you can turn on and off trac light. Do not no were on your vehicle

Do not no were it is on your vehicle will have to look in your owners manual. Your check engine light you a can have code read at most parts stores like Auto Zone for free.
The main culprit for this happening is a malfunctioning wheel speed sensor. The vehicles ECU relies on feedback from these speed sensors for the traction control and anti locks brake systems to function. Typically the wires fray and break on the front sensors due to the constant turning and twisting of the cables. Inspect the wires and sensors and replace if necessary.
For those with this problem. Too test the sensor use an ohmmeter resistance is about 1200 ohms. The resistance across the lead from the car is about 30K ohms. With the ignition on should be about 5 volts. Too simulate the sensor place a 1200 ohm resistor across this connection. Use the ohm meter connected to either cable / harness to check for intermittent connections. You can also test the sensor output use a volt meter with a low voltage scale connected to the sensor terminals, rotate the wheel back and forth works about .2 to .5 volts is normal. This is measurements on my 2003 Century.
