I have a 2004 Buick LeSabre back-up and license plate bulbs keep blowing out

Asked by Bella2014 Dec 07, 2013 at 07:03 PM about the 2004 Buick LeSabre Custom Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently bought my daughter a 04 Buick LeSabre. I have been having trouble with back
up light bulbs blowing out and one side of the license plate does not light up even with a
new bulb. Any suggestions on what to look for with these rear lights would be
appreciated.

Its possible you have a short either where the tail lens is at or in the wiring harness

I had a problem where the lights didn't come on. It was a broken wire in the harness at the point where the trunk hinge is. Open the harness at the bend point and look.

Very poor design, hinge bracket interferes with wiring harness. Mine actually cut 4 wires...no trunk release, no trunk lid lights. Once wires spliced...all good...still in bad place, not enough wire to properly relocate.
