break booster

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Thinking of buying an 89 park avenue, I was told it needs a new power booster, a tire, and a battery.  Didn't know the degree of difficulty or tools needed.  A family member can do repairs but I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble.  The car has less then 150,000 miles and the interior is good shape.  The exterior doesn't even have a scratch.  To start it needed a jump because it's been sitting for a few months, but so far I think it's great.  Paying $500. for the car plus parts... IDK, does anyone have an opinion?

how to remove and replace?

parts needed?

go to your local wrecking yard p/u a used, but GOOD battery,[$40] find out what size & type of tire and have mounted [$ 50 plus mounting & balance] get used power brake unit {approx $50] take 2 bolts that hold master cylinder off, plus 4 bolts that hold vacuum power brake unit on.[ bolts may be on inside under the dash or outside behind unit. replace in following order. sounds like a damn good deal . let your family member do it. go on to google ask" how to replace brake vacuum booster and follow directions. good luck.
