1998 Buick Park Avenue Ultra Stalled on Road Today

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
1998 Buick Park Avenue Ultra Supercharged drove fine to and from work today (about 20
miles each way). Then with about a mile to go to home the car stopped running on the
road --- it just cut out. It wants to turn over but can't/won't. Seems to be related to one of
the pulleys (maybe). Any suggestions even if it is something else that needs to be
checked? Had it towed to a nearby mechanic to see what needs to be done.

Oil on dipstick looks clean/normal.

Heard from the mechanic yesterday (Tuesday). Their initial feeling is that the supercharger blew and may have damaged the engine which is now making quite a bit of racket. They were able to take off all of the belts and get the engine running (although not as well as they would have liked). Originally, they thought it may have been the AC compressor or something like that. We will hear back from them today but it looks like we may have to scrap the car unless we want to put a new engine and a new supercharger in it which I don't think we are leaning toward doing. The nice thing is that we got this inexpensively a few years ago after a hail storm. It had almost no dents that were detectable but the insurance company totaled it anyway. It has 254,000 miles on it so I think we have done okay.

crank sensor, if the ecu cannot read the vehicles RPM (which comes from crank sensor) then the engine cannot and will not run, or at least properly if the sensor isnt completely boogered. also check ignition module, and coil packs. the ign module is notorious in these to melt underneath, or fill with corrosion, eventually burning the module out and any number of ign coils with it. good luck, very possible that its that simple.
