If I understand your problem.....the gas gage does not work. The gage is pretty simple. Find the wires that go to the gas tank (in the back of the car) disconnect the connector looks like it will have 4 wires. from the front of the car, 2 of the wires will have 12v when the key is on....one goes to the fuel pump (may be grey) the other send power to the tank sending unit and than may be pink/bk.. the black or black/white wire grounds the motor and gage. the purple wire goes back to the gage. With the connector disconnected and the key on, the gas gage will either show full or empty....if you jump one of the 12v sources to that purple wire, the gage should jump to the other extreme...(if it was showing EMPTY with the connector open and you put 12 volt to the wire, the gage should show full....or if the showed FULL and you put voltage to it then it will show empty) this verifies that the gage is working and the problem is with the sending unit in the tank
