Picking and choosing when to start

97 buick regal. Why would this car
start sometimes. And other times
i turn the key all the way and it
does nothing? No cranking no
nothing.

There are interlocks that keep the car from starting unless it is in PARK or NEUTRAL...you already know that, but if they get out of adjustment or worn, you will have a problem. To verify that is the problem, try starting it in NEUTRAL...or shift out of park and back in.
