1992 buick roadmaster idle problem

Asked by Lazaro322 Feb 19, 2019 at 11:39 PM about the 1992 Buick Roadmaster Sedan RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I own a 1992 brickroadmaster and I'm having a
idling problem or at least I believe it is. When the
car sits for around one or two days and I go to
start it, it idles fine and drives fine. Then when the
car has been driven for a minimum of 15 minutes, I
go and park the car and turn it off. After about 10
minutes of it being off when I turn it on, the RPM
needle begins to jump and it feels like the car is
revving itself. It does this for a couple of seconds
and then the service engine light comes on. It does
this everytime the car has been warmed up for a
while and suddenly turned off and on.

It could be a valve leak, MAFS, weak fuel pressure, etc. To find out for sure, have it hooked up to a diagnostic at a shop or a parts store and see what the engine codes say.
