i have a 92 rs camaro with 3.8  , can i take my 5.7 motor and tran out of my96
gmc to replace the v6

In theory you can but I would not install a truck engine. For your car I might use an engine + transmission from a 4th generation Camaro like an LT4 with a 4 speed automatic.

1992 is OBD I. Anything newer than a 1994 model is OBD II. They're completely different computer control systems and are not compatible with each other at all! In addition there's a long list of things that need to be changed over on the Camaro and Firebird to go from a V6 to a V8. You'd be better off, in my opinion, getting a V8 car with a blown motor to do the swap. Just remember, 1982 thru 1994 is OBD I, and 1996 and newer is OBD II. Stay away from a 1995 model. A 95 could be either OBD I or OBD II so it's best to avoid that year. Hope that helps! Jim

An engine swap should include the ECU and wiring so that everything works together.
