Funny plastic odor in car dash gauges do not work, alternator light on, car still
runs

Sounds like there may have been a short wire and this is the plastic odor (burn) that you smell. The gauges do not work, so I would start by checking the fuse box.

Hey thanks found the problem,blown fuse for gauges. Installed new fuse and had smoke under dash,somewhere around Ebrake mount. removed fuse anyway Thanks for the help.
