Temporarily bypass the fuel pump to start truck

Nope. this is a high pressure system.

the tank is probably rusted out too , check for proper ground and pressure

Use a hammer and hit the bottom center of the gas tank a few times. Don't beat the tar out of it, just a few whacks. That might get the pump going long enough for you to move the truck to where you need it. Have you checked the fuel pump relay and the wiring going to the pump? It's a pretty old truck so the relay and wiring are suspect too. Jim
