My truck won't start unless I use starting fluid?

Asked by Christy Aug 31, 2015 at 12:41 PM about the 1997 Chevrolet C/K 2500 Cheyenne Extended Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1997 Chevy Silverado 2500 & this
problem started almost a year ago, but it
only happened about once a month. It has
progressively gotten worse to where now I
have to use starting fluid every time I start
the truck, even if I just turned it of 10
minutes prior. Can anyone suggest
somewhere to start with getting to what's
wrong?

First see what the fuel pressure is at the rails, could be as simple as replacing the fuel filter or could be the fuel pump or not enough voltage at the fuel pump. make sure the injectors are ok...
