1999 CHEVY 1500 4.3 SHUTTERED AND DIED AT IDLE..

Asked by SGBLANKENSHIP Sep 29, 2017 at 09:55 AM about the 1999 Chevrolet C/K 1500 LS Extended Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My sons truck died at a stop light. Would start after several seconds of
cranking and giving a little gas. Ran very rough. However, only with high
rpms would it keep running. Idle and would vibrate and die.
I was checking the Mass Air Flow Sensor when I found water in the air
intake tube between the MAFS and the Intake. Then I checked the oil and it
was milky like water in oil. Then the Radiator over flow tank was low.
I was thinking probable intake gasket. However, what would cause water in
intake tube?
Do you think intake would happen suddenly like that?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

sounds like you have a blown head gasket , a compression test will say for sure or not , usually it's a result of over heating but they can just decide to quit also
