Check Engine light has just come on. Truck does not idle below 1000 rpm even after getting to operating temp. Haven't had codes checked yet. Which sensor could possible cause such a condition? Truck is running fine otherwise.

Dear ryder-- The check engine warning that you are getting from your 1998 Chevrolet C/K 1500 can mean a lot of things. The only way for a definitive answer is to hook the truck up to an OBDII diagnostic computer and read the codes that the engine sends. It will eliminate all of the guesswork as to the problems you are having with your truck. Good luck from Bovan.
any auto zone can check the codes for you and give you print outs of that to look for. but do go and buy what they tell you to buy look on google and type in the codes AND TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE codes mean
try checking the idle air control motor and the voltage on the tps in closed then open position 1.5V - 4.4V
just have some one run the codes and that problem should fix itself, i had the same problem, also come on get a smallblock in that thing haha jk
you need to replace your temp control scencer,is located next to thermostat housing, just screws out 1 wire plug in,get the one that goes to computer not the guadge.
Temp. Sensor.....most likely ....
