my 1998 Chevy Silverado starts up then dies

If it's starting and dying just about as soon as you turn the key back then it's probably a security (passkey) issue. Sometimes you can do a relearn procedure and make it work for a while but you may just need a new switch. If you can get a scanner to it you should see a code for it.
