I have a 1997 chevy c/k1500 350 I was driving it home when I lost all gears and luckily coasted home. It sat for two days in the driveway and when i went to push it out of the way I put it in reverse

Asked by BASHBROTHER5 Oct 24, 2014 at 07:13 PM about the 1997 Chevrolet C/K 1500 WT RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just to see and it did back up but
after I put it in park it hasn't moved
again since I've looked around and
thought it could be a transmission
solenoid just wondering if anyone
has a better idea thanks

Most of the time,it is tranny bad when it doe,s this, check the tranny fluid.

I was hoping that wasn't it it just seems odd that I lost all gears at the same time and then ended up getting reverse for a short period of time I have had one go out before and lose first and fourth but not all is there anyway it could be a shift solenoid

If both shift solenoids fail the transmission defaults to 3rd gear. If your having no movement at all the pump may have failed or you have some sort of line pressure issue.

I checked the transmission fluid with it off and then turned the truck on and the fluid level dropped so I figured the pump was good
