Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Can you put a 2 wheel drive rear end in
a four-wheel drive Chevy truck 1500 97

1 Answer

250

Over the years many different ratios have been used, depending on engine, transmission and wheel configurations. Best thing to do is look at the RPO code in the glove box of your car and find the ratio that was fitted to it that way so you can find an axle with the proper final drive. If you do not match the ratios, your transfer box can wind up and break the center diff.
