What engine do you have in your truck? If it's a v8 a 3in in and out single pipe would be good, or a 3in single in and 2.5 or 2.75 dual out. MPG improvements will be minor at best. Dont use true dual exhaust on these trucks as it will give you no back pressure which these motors need and will actually make you slower. If you have the 4.3 then a single 2.75 in and out or dual 2.5 out. Flowmaster 40's are nice and loud, Dynomax super turbo is a little quieter but still gives some good sound.

Yeah, oversizing your exhaust can actually rob power from you. You won't see any gains in fuel mileage from exhaust. Personally, I like the Magna-Flow cat-back systems over Flowmasters. Flowmasters are "old news" in my book, but that's just my opinion. Anyway, as Andrew answered above, keep your "y" or "x" pipe in your system as it will give you better performance.

Exhaust is the right size but i would continue it out the back. Headers could make a small difference. You already have the good vortec engine. The intake side is as good as its gonna get. Other than that maybe an ecu tune. But a high to expect is maybe 18 mpg.
