I have a 1997 Chevy K1500 5.0L V8. How many O2 sensors are there? Will
the ACDelco AFS105 GM Original Equipment Heated Oxygen Sensor work for
all upstream and downstream sensors or do I need to get ACDelco AFS106
GM Original Equipment Heated Oxygen Sensors?

What ever you get should say which application(s) they work for. Look up the parts and use what is specified for your truck.
The AFS105 says center/pre-converter and the AFS106 says downstream/post-converter. Is center/pre-converter the same as an upstream? And how many am I looking at for this truck ?
Probably two O2 sensors. If it say pre-converter then that is the same as "up stream".
I have a 98 came with 5.0. Switched to 99 5.7. Most parts are the same stock numbers. Haven't found any different. 02 sensors. 1 below each manifold connection up stream I assume? Both on back of downpipe. And 1 behind cat facing to frame side.
