where do i start for code that says short in transmission shift solenoid A (1-2)

I have a 1996 Chevrolet c1500 4.3 L  V6 and check engine light is on. Took it to 2
different auto zones and a friend's repair shop. All 3 places hooked up computer and ( I
think it was code P0753) the report said it has a short in or to the shift solenoid. I have
no problems whatsoever with it shifting. None!  I can't tell that there's anything wrong
except maybe my gas mileage seems worse. Could it be battery cable connection, low
fluid, wiring? If I need to check ohms, where and which wires. I'm wanting to just
replace the solenoid first because I don't have any time in the saddle with a voltmeter
and or ohms. Again, there's no problems shifting. If there is its too minimal for me to tell.

A P0753 code is for the solenoid in the transmission. It is a common issue. If you research it, there is a plethora of information on what steps to take to resolve it, even a youtube video. My truck threw the same code a while back. I was getting ready to do the work, then it went away?

When solenoid A goes out you loose 1st and 4th gear. Count your shifts, can you feel all 4 and the torque converter lock up? I have a feeling you will only feel that one shift. IF the truck has a higher rear end gear you may not notice starting off in 2nd. and you mpgs will suffer with the lack of 4th (OD).

I just went ahead and changed both solenoids. Check engine light gone. You know what Andrew, my mpg sucked horribly. That I did know. I mean flat horrible
