3-speed THM-400 automatic 4-speed 700R4 automatic 4-speed 4L60 automatic 4-speed 4L60-E automatic 4-speed 4L80-E automatic.......which one?
That should be the 4L60E transmission. The 3/4 tons used the 4L80E
Thanks tenspeed I.m still looking for specs/quantity and thought it would be easy but giving me fits for such a simple thing
I found a bunch of aftermarket pans that add quantity, pan kits that is with other stuff that add as much as a gallon from stock, but no hard reliable info on stock

...not any cutsie names here, like turbo 350, or torque-flite or hydramatic or jet-a-way or dynaflush or some or other cutesie name 480-E just doesn't roll off the tongue~ probably takes five quarts nonetheless-
Some found history - In 1990, the Turbo Hydra-Matic 700R4 was renamed the 4L60. Under the new designation, the "4" stands for the number of forward gears, the "L" for longitudinal applications (rear-wheel-drive), and the "60" is the strength rating (less than the 4L80). "60" is the relative torque value. For example, 80 is stronger than 60, which is stronger than 40, etc. A 4L80-E can handle more torque than a 4L60-E. The "E" denotes electronically controlled shifting. However, Since the 4L60 is hydraulically shifted based on governor pressure and TV cable position, the "E" at the end is optional.
