Cant get a 95 chevy 350 tbi timed rigjt

Asked by Anthony Nov 21, 2015 at 09:19 PM about the 1995 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Silverado Stepside 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I did a intake swap on my 95 k1500 350 tbi.
I marked timing properly everything fell in
great amd started up. Went to time it amd it
was off by 20 degrees wont even cone
close to zero thinking maybe i missed a
tooth I took distributor out set at tdc and
pointed rotor to #1 this time i could get it it
to time but i accidentally bumped the cap
installing the air filter for test drive (didnt
fully tighten just incase) so i put the light
back on it amd its 20 degrees off again and
again wont come back to zero any idea?

The ECM is resetting it,line the marks up on cam and crank or top dead center on firing stroke, and crank on mark, then unplug your distributor harness, and undo battery, turn the crank by hand 360 degree,s and check your marks again, then make sure distributor is on the number one plug, then reconnect the distributor harness then the battery, this should reset the ECM.

there should be a tan wire with a black strip somewhere in the harness that has a one wire connector that is your timing bypass and needs to be disconnected when setting base timing on your k motor, the connector is either on the firewall in the harness on the passenger side under the hood or it maybe behind the glove box by the ecm also check the harness from the ecm that goes down by the carpet
